OneDrive Docs en-us now without Errors

Hans Brender

I can’t speak for the entire OneDrive documentation. I’m only referring to the group policies listed here: IT Admins – Use OneDrive policies to control sync settings – SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn Registry This is the section where Group Policy settings are listed, along with explanations of what they do and which registry entries they create. And sometimes it just takes a little longer to document them without errors. In December 2022, I publicly documented for the first time how it all fits together. The Fixing Process During the MVP Summit this year, I tried once again … OneDrive Docs en-us now without Errors weiterlesen

New GPO: Set a custom name for the OneDrive folder

Hans Brender

History To describe this process, we need to go back in time: Tenant description With OneDrive Insider version 26.025.0208.0001, administrators gained access for the first time to a new group policy called Set a custom name for the OneDrive folder. Background information: When a new OneDrive version is automatically updated to a higher version (currently approx. 570 MB), regardless of Insider/Production/Delayed, you also receive the current group policies for OneDrive. I currently provide all available OneDrive versions here, but I personally do not install them automatically. However, I have written a PowerShell script that compares the old and new OneDrive … New GPO: Set a custom name for the OneDrive folder weiterlesen

Neue GPO: OneDrive-Ordnernamen auf dem Datenträger anpassen

Hans Brender

Synchronize up to 500,000 files with Add to OneDrive

Hans Brender

At Microsoft Ignite 2025, Gaia Carini from the OneDrive product group in Redmond announced that a long-established threshold would be raised. She spoke of 500,000 files to be synchronized. To get straight to the point: it won’t work with classic synchronization, but only with the Add a Shortcut to my Files function. I first wrote about this in an article titled OneDrive for Business – Add Shortcut to my Files in the summer of 2020. The latest article dated March 10, 2025, on New naming convention for folder shortcuts shows that Microsoft is continuously working on this technology. I republished … Synchronize up to 500,000 files with Add to OneDrive weiterlesen
