The next step – my personal BOT


Mr.OneDrive's BOT

A few decades have passed. I’ve worked with IT for the past 25 years. In the different areas. Of course I got involved when the Internet came into being. Not at the forefront. But I can still remember the days when HTML was announced. Where every page was created manually. Where there were no templates yet. So I also had my own website. At some point I changed over. On a blog. And I’ve been blogging since October 2010. Now in two languages. More and more about one topic: About the technology of cooperation. Groove, SkyDrive and now OneDrive. So over 950 articles were created. Individual sections that are not able to describe the possibilities and scenarios that differ from many companies. Of course, my blog will find the people who can use a search engine. If you know what they’re looking for. Because searching needs to be learned. At some point Microsoft gave me the nickname Mr.OneDrive. And now everyone knows me under this name around the planet.

But with the many small and large events and conferences, I only ever reach a small number of people. Even less, but more intensive are, of course, all-day OneDrive workshops on site. Not only can I see the question mark in the eyes of the participants here, I can also respond intensively and quickly. Individually. And it doesn’t matter whether the company has 20 or 100,000 employees. Yes, I can be bought.

I don’t need a website (anymore). Because the content is static, it has to be renewed again and again. The maintenance is (very) complex. And actually, the manufacturer should have documentation. And at OneDrive, Microsoft has now published an impressive number of articles at docs.microsoft.com. But how many people do not know exactly what you are looking for when it comes to the interaction of the individual technical components in the collaboration in all its facets. And even a blog cannot help because it only shows individual sections.

Unfortunately, my daily workshops also have a disadvantage because there are too many companies and I unfortunately only speak two languages. But the technology is with the cloud and AI (artificial intelligence) makes it possible to clone myself. Or to take it to the next level. At least as far as my knowledge of working with OneDrive is concerned. And not just in the two languages, but in more than 50 languages. Around the clock. for 24 hours. Because Mr.OneDrive’s bot doesn’t need sleep.

Everyone will be able to install the bot within Microsoft Teams from the Microsoft Store. And then I am ready and willingly provide information. Anytime. In (almost) every language.

Before you start looking, slowly. I still cannot connect the PC to my brain and transfer the thoughts. This will also take a while with bot development. From the idea in July 2019 in a small feedback session with two MVP colleagues, it took a long time before Thomy Gölles and Stephan Bisser confronted me with the first bot prototype at SharePoint Saturday in Munich at the end of November 2019. And I’ve been collecting questions since mid-December. Questions about OneDrive and OneDrive for Business. And write down the answers. Of course with pictures. And links. To my blog. Or to the original documentation from Microsoft. There are still a few stumbling blocks to be cleared out of the way. I’ll write about that too.
