Microsoft has released a new Version of the Next Generation Sync Client. It is the the 4th version of the NGSC with the version 17.3.6390.0509. So the change log only tells us, that there were 2 critical bug fixes:
Fixed an issue where OneDrive was incorrectly detecting that Personal Sync had been disabled on Windows 8.1.
Fixed an issue that sometimes caused files that were opened by Office to stop syncing.
Where Do I get the new Version?
Users at yammer told, I there download the NGSC from Download section of the the OneDrive Blog and looks for the version (settings) of the OneDriveSetup.exe, it told them that this is still the previous version (17.3.6386.0412)
So I have tested it on two different machines
Windows 8.1 | Here I have received the version 17.3.6390.0509 on 05/18/2016 on 12:056 pm; I do not have set any registry keys I have no have any related group policies |
Windows 10 | Still have version 17.3.6386.0412 This machines is fully patched, also the Office Version |
Where Do I find the date and time on the Windows 8.1?
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive
The NGSC is a C2R program, which will be automatically updated. It will look normally once a day for an update. But this does not mean, it will automatically installed. it looks to a special website, initiate a process, but if this process will not complete, there are several steps, it will wait again 24 hours.
Think about more than 300 million users, and that’s are only the 300 Million Windows 10 users, Microsoft has the possibility to put the Update in waves to different NGSC.
If you do not have the newest version, be relax. It will come.
