What’s behind OneDrive version 26.002.0105.0001_1?
I’ve created a small table describing the individual components of the four blocks. So version 26.002.0105.0001 becomes xx.yyy.zzzz.aaaa

St	Detailed description of a OneDrive version
xx	The first two digits represent the year, 25 = 2025, 26 = 2026.
yyy	is the current version for the year and is continuously incremented. Microsoft normally increments the version number every working day. However, this is not always the case. Working days refer to the Microsoft location in Washington State. There are local holidays there, such as January 20 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day). On such days, no new version is released. It can also happen that Microsoft does not release an Insider version. In 2025, 243 versions were released as Insider versions by Microsoft.
zzzz	Month and day, so 1211 stands for December 11, 0204 stands for February 4.
aaaa	Sequential number. Starts with 0001. If errors are corrected in this version, the number is increased by 1. Microsoft then decides which Insider version will be included in the production ring. For example, 25.206.102.0003 was moved from the Insider ring to the production ring. The same happens in the delayed ring. For example, Insider version 25.224.1116.0001 was released as 25.224.1116.0003 in the production ring and then released in the delayed ring.

The ominous _1 appended to a OneDrive version still needs to be clarified.

I inquired with the Microsoft OneDrive product group and received the following response:

It can happen when the same version installs twice, which can happen for a few reasons, mostly involving auto-repair of the install. In this case Iikely we were unable to delete the setup binary because it was currently being executed and that’s why it stuck around. 

Summary

Normally, you cannot access the OneDrive versions at all. They are updated automatically using a sophisticated mechanism. Even if you have several different devices, different versions may exist on each one. This mechanism also ensures that an update to a new version is only performed on a specific device once it has been started. However, there are exceptions. You may want to test a newer version first. That’s why I’m providing all OneDrive setups for Windows and Mac versions here.

Within two years, the setup files alone have grown by 30%. But the number of programs, DLLs, and logs has also grown to 1,304 files in 250 directories, totaling 475 MB.
