Fast, faster but without date

On 10/16/2023, Microsoft rolled out a new version of the OneDrive client. For the operating system iOS/iPadOS. This is version 14.19.8 and is final. That is, without the other pre-release version in the Testflight.
Testflight is a demo environment where versions can be tested on iOS devices. These are available in various programs such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft Loop. And there, before a release versions, these versions are made available in advance. So that you can give feedback. Which are then made available to the developers. So far, so good. With a new Outlook version, the app crashes several times after installation (update). I have reported this so many times. Reads but apparently no one.
So usually a pre-release version is first in Testflight, and then later then found as the final version. Sometimes the test version is also the final version. So Microsoft works without errors. But currently the final version overtakes the test version. What do you mean?

Fine. Maybe the employee is on vacation. Or has had a bad day. But of course there are also clues that are 99%:

„This update includes bug fixes and stability improvements.“

The final version 14.19.8 now contains a note that differs:

„We would like to inform our users that we plan to remove support for the OneDrive app on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 versions soon. Make sure you are using one of the higher versions of iOS/iPadOS (16 or 17) to ensure you can still access the latest version of the OneDrive app.“

In simpler terms, the OneDrive app will soon stop working. If they have iOS15/iPadOS15 on their device. So far, so good. So the user is prompted to upgrade to a higher OS. What bothers me about the message is the word „soon„. What does „soon“ mean. Tomorrow? The day after tomorrow? In two months? At the end of the year?

Does Microsoft not know when it will stop supporting iOS15/iPadOS 15?

I find the wording vague to show a reaction. Indeed, in the past, with the MAC, a new version no longer worked if you had an old version of the operating system installed.
Soon. And what happens after Soon?

So the final version 14.9.8 contains this hint. And there was no test version. Had to go out. Without the date that only Microsoft knows.

Today I reached version 14.21.4 in the iOS test flight.
This is the last version of OneDrive for iOS and iPadOS that can be installed on devices with iOS/iPadOS 15. The next version will only support iOS16 and 17.
